Escape Velocity is a creative project of films and live performance works made by and with young trans and gender non-conforming people in Melbourne in 2019 and 2020.

Created through a partnership between St Martins and Minus18, Escape Velocity is an artistic response to some of the anxieties faced by young people in public space that we’d like to share with you.

Escape Velocity is funded by Creative Victoria’s Future Makers for Change initiative.

Kian features in Launch set in a Doctor’s office

For me, it’s about the fact that trans people exist in different contexts. we don’t stop being trans when we go to the doctor’s office. We are not just trans in queer spaces.

“I’m young. I’m trans. I exist. I can be myself. I can define and redefine myself.
