Escape Velocity is a creative project of films and live performance works made by and with young trans and gender non-conforming people in Melbourne in 2019 and 2020.

Created through a partnership between St Martins and Minus18, Escape Velocity is an artistic response to some of the anxieties faced by young people in public space that we’d like to share with you.

Escape Velocity is funded by Creative Victoria’s Future Makers for Change initiative.

Phase Two: Escape Velocity Walks the City

How does your identity shape your experience of the city?
Escape Velocity invites you to Walk the City hand-in-hand with local trans and gender non-conforming young people on a unique journey offering gentle connection and fresh perspectives.

“I’m young. I’m trans. I exist. I can be myself. I can define and redefine myself.
– Escape Velocity participant

We recognise the resilience, strength and pride of Aboriginal people, and especially children and young people. We acknowledge that Sovereignty was never ceded and stand in solidarity with the First Peoples.
